Terms of Service

Last updated: [insert date this policy is published/updated]

These terms cover using the EnlightIn product — your account, your content, your conduct on the platform, and the marketplace relationship between askers and experts. As with our other policies, sections marked like this need a decision from you or review by a qualified lawyer before this is legally complete.

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to anyone who creates a EnlightIn account or otherwise uses EnlightIn, whether as an asker (someone looking for expertise) or an expert (someone offering it). EnlightIn is operated by [Your company’s legal name and registered address].

2. Eligibility and account creation

  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
  • You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.
  • EnlightIn is intended for professional use by adults acting in a business capacity — see our Children section in the Privacy Policy.
  • [Confirm any minimum age requirement and whether business entities, not just individuals, can hold accounts].

3. Asker and expert responsibilities

EnlightIn has two roles that any account can hold, switchable at any time. Whichever role you’re acting in:

  • As an asker: describe your problem honestly and completely, engage in good faith with experts who respond, and pay agreed fees for confirmed bookings.
  • As an expert: only claim experience and expertise you actually have, keep your availability accurate, and show up for calls you’ve confirmed.
  • Neither role guarantees a specific outcome — EnlightIn connects people; it does not perform, supervise, or guarantee the advice given.

4. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Misrepresent your identity, credentials, or professional experience.
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
  • Use EnlightIn to solicit business outside the platform in a way that circumvents these terms, where applicable.
  • Post fraudulent, illegal, or infringing content.
  • Attempt to access another user’s account or data without authorization.
  • Interfere with or attempt to disrupt the platform’s normal operation.
  • Manipulate reviews or ratings.

Full behavioral expectations are in our Community Guidelines.

5. User-generated content

You retain ownership of the content you post (profile information, posts, comments, messages). By posting it, you grant EnlightIn a license to store, display, and distribute it as needed to operate the platform — for example, showing your posts to other users in the feed. You’re responsible for having the rights to anything you post.

6. Reviews

Reviews may only be left by someone who actually had a completed, confirmed session with the person they’re reviewing — this is enforced at the database level, not just by policy. Reviews must reflect genuine experiences.

7. Fees and payments

[EnlightIn does not currently process payments or charge fees. Once a payment provider and fee structure are in place, describe: how fees are calculated, when they’re charged, whether EnlightIn takes a marketplace commission, and how that’s disclosed to users before a booking is confirmed].

8. Cancellations and refunds

[Define the cancellation window, what happens if an expert doesn’t show up vs. an asker doesn’t show up, and the refund policy once payments exist]. Rescheduling and cancelling a booked call is already supported directly in the product today.

9. Account suspension and termination

  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings — this permanently removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law, including for fraud, harassment, or repeated policy violations.
  • [Confirm the notice/appeal process, if any, before a suspension or termination].

10. Disputes between users

EnlightIn is a platform connecting independent users — we are not a party to the advisory relationship between an asker and an expert. If a dispute arises between users, we encourage direct resolution first; contact us if you need our involvement.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

EnlightIn is provided “as is.” Advice given by experts on the platform reflects their own professional opinions, not EnlightIn’s — we do not vet or guarantee the accuracy of any advice given. [A qualified lawyer should draft the specific limitation-of-liability and disclaimer language for your jurisdiction — this is not something to leave as generic boilerplate].

12. Governing law

[Specify the governing law and jurisdiction for disputes, consistent with where your company is registered].

13. Changes to these terms

We’ll update this page when our terms change and update the date at the top. Material changes will be communicated to users.
